Obagi Nu-Derm System

Hello my fellow skincare lovers!

I am here to share my full experience with the Obagi Nu-Derm system. Before I dive into my experience, I want to give you some background history about my skin. I have suffered from cystic acne, blackheads, whiteheads, hyperpigmentation, redness, large pores, I mean, you name it! I have tried Accutane, pretty much every expensive skincare product on the market, to regular face treatments, and though they have helped my skin issues for a few months, my results have never been consistent. With that being said, I have heard about Obagi and have read countless reviews saying how amazing this system is for various skin types, but I’ll be honest, I became so discouraged because nothing has truly changed my skin, so I didn’t bother trying out the system…UNTIL I started working here at LuminaSkin. I am fortunate to work with great providers who only want the best for their patients and team members, so I decided to give it a go! With that being said, I am excited to take you along my journey!

The Obagi system has 5 phases:

  1. Remove (1-6 weeks)
  2. Restart (7-12 weeks)
  3. Refresh (Weeks 13-18)
  4. Restore (continued results)
  5. Retain (Proper skin maintenance)

Currently I am on the first phase and it’s definitely the ugly stage, but I was warned ahead of time so no surprises. I started to peel after the third day! By the first week, my skin was bright red and I started to see a few active blemishes that were starting to kill my self-esteem. But this is only temporarily, right? I am currently on week 5 and haven’t noticed much of a change besides the fact that my skin is literally purging. The good news is that applying makeup can help; however, I wouldn’t suggest applying powder because that only makes your skin look patchy. Any liquid makeup is the best way to go! I am excited to start the next phase and the next one after that! Stay tuned for my Restart phase!
